Wieniawski Ecole Moderne Op. 10 No. 4 La Staccato.

I started learning this piece about two weeks ago and I am pretty happy with my progress.

Up/down bow staccato took me several years to learn and in my opinion, the best way to master it is to learn it in a personal way. Try everything you could think of even if it looks / feels funny. If you don't know where to start, look at Youtube videos and perhaps try to imitate the violinists. Many years ago, I couldn't even play the small up bow staccato passage in the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-SaĆ«ns.

I had some teachers telling me what to do when I couldn't do the staccato but I basically had to do many experiments myself. Right now, my weakness is playing very fast when performing so I feel safer to record myself at home first and bring it to the stage in a few months.

Things I want to improve this week: cleaner string crossings, better phrasing and faster preparation on my left hand.
